A Massive Medley of New Releases!

A Massive Medley of New Releases!

We're always busy here at TBWC HQ, and we've been particularly active as of late - as demonstrated by this litany of new bottlings!

It's time for another huge haul of new That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottlings to fly the coop, so to speak. The TBWC HQ is a bit fancier than a coop. There's significantly less hay than your everyday coop - which is a blessing and a curse, really. Sometimes you really just want a big pile of hay to sleep in. Anyway. Whisky!

It's been quite a while since we bottled a Caperdonich single malt, but the Caperdonich drought (Caperdrought? Does that just sound like an intense lack of capers?) has ceased! Our first batch of Caperdonich with an age statement - this one is a 22 year old expression, bottled at 48.6% ABV. Only 250 bottles of this rare single malt were produced.

We've just bottled our 11th batch of single malt from the Islay-based Bruichladdich distillery, and this one is a wonderfully flavoursome expression. Bottled at 13 years old, with an ABV of 47.6%, expect oodles of juicy fruit notes and a hint of salinity. 478 bottles were produced.

We're heading to the Lowlands for this next one - it's Batch 4 of our Auchentoshan! This one was matured for 24 years, and bottled at 50.6% ABV. A classically gentle Lowland, with a zesty kick of citrus at its core. A release of 542 bottles.

"Pack it up, pack it in, let me begin..." to tell you about our newest bottling of Allt-á-Bhainne single malt! For Batch 5, we've bottled up a terrific 22 year old expression, with only 222 bottles produced. Couldn't have planned that better if we tried.

It's important to remember that Scotland isn't the only place that makes whisky - why not branch out a little bit and treat yourself to a fantastic Single Malt Irish Whiskey! We've bottled this stunning expression at 8 years old and 45.7% ABV, producing 876 bottles.

Fancy branching out even further? Well then, why not try something very new indeed - our first batch of Tennessee Bourbon Whisky #1! It's a brilliant 14 year old bourbon, bottled 52.2% ABV. With 547 bottles produced, don't expect these to stick around for long...

We've bottled another stunning Aultmore! Batch 8 is a 20 year old expression, bottled at 52.1% ABV with an outturn of 997 bottles. The shark and velociraptor remain at odds with each other. Some things never change.

We've got a new bottling of Benrinnes, too! For Batch 5, we got our hands on a splendidly delicious 17 year old single malt, and bottled it at 47.6% ABV. A release of 940 bottles.

People keep sending things into space (cars, botanicals, humans), with the intent of finding a planet which is completely covered in fur, like on the label of our Blended Whisky #2. None have been successful, but never fear - we've released a new batch to reignite the fires of discovery! This one is 22 years old, and 1,650 bottles were produced.

Many moons ago we released our first batch of Dailuaine. Seems like it's about time we got our act together and bottled Batch 2, don't you think? Well surprise! We predicted that you would agree with that question and have Dailuaine Batch 2 already ready! It's a 15 year old expression, bottled at 47.5% ABV with an outturn of 950 bottles.

The hits keep coming - we've got Batch 5 of our Glen Keith single malt ready to go! We've bottled another wonderful 24 year old whisky from the distillery in Speyside, producing 377 bottles presented at 49.1% ABV.

Feast your eyes upon our first BenRiach bottling with an age statement. This is a 9 year old single malt, presented at 51.7% ABV and with 2,501 bottles produced. We thought 2,500 bottles wouldn't be quite enough.

Another first - our very first bottling of Glencadam single malt is here! A youthful expression, bottled at 6 years old at 47.5% ABV, but it's by no means a straightforward dram. 454 bottles were produced.

Finally, we couldn't help but treat you to another excellent single grain from Invergordon! For Batch 16(!), we've bottled a 10 year old single grain, boasting a vanilla-forward flavour profile with hints of floral freshness in the background. 217 bottles were produced.

Release The Peat! (and some old grain)

Release The Peat! (and some old grain)

Good things come in threes, so they say, so here are three new releases to tempt you. Two from Islay (renowned for its peated whiskies), and a rather refined and long aged blended grain.

Our first ever release under the brand spanking new Octomore label is a 6 Year Old. And what a label it is, cracking work Emily! Octomore is the name for the the most heavily peated barley distilled at the Bruichladdich distillery. You wanted phenols, and this comes fully loaded with all of them! 796 bottles have been filled at 50.4% abv

There's a new release from Bowmore too, a 15 Year Old bottled at 48.3% abv. It's our eighth batch from Islay's oldest distillery, and we've filled 904 bottles! Expect all of the traditional Bowmore sweet smoky leafy notes wrapped in a sea breeze.

Our final announcement in this trio of taste bud ticklers is a 50 Year Old Blended Grain. It's a new label too, but Batch 1 was sneaked out in our Advent Calendar at the end of 2017. Just 60 bottles will be available of this fine old grain whisky. Check out the label, most of our tasting notes can be found within (not the ship obviously)

These tantalising treats are available from fine retailers at the following recommended retail prices:

  • Octomore Batch 1, 6 Year Old - £144.95
  • Bowmore Batch 8, 15 Year Old - £77.95
  • Blended Grain Batch 1, 50 Year Old - £164.95

Whisky for dogs is here!

Whisky for dogs is here!

That Boutique-y Whisky Company teams up with some of the world’s best distilleries and pet nutritionists to create and independently bottle ‘whisky’ for dogs under the brand That Boutique-y Canine Company!

UPDATE: Sorry poochy pals - this announcement definitely had something to do with today's date being the 1st of April...

Sharing whisky is one of life’s true pleasures. Up until now, only humans have been able to bond over a dram, cementing friendship over a love of the water of life. Now, for the first time ever, dog lovers can share their favourite dram with their four-legged friends, thanks to clever developments in pet nutrition and our vision to spread whisky love to everyone whether they have two legs or four!

Introducing That Boutique-y Canine Company! How does it work? Whisky is bad for dogs! We agree. By working closely with nutritionists from Dynamite Dog Dietics, we have found a way to molecularly bond flavour compounds commonly found in whisky to proteins in organic chicken, venison and rabbit (meats identified as providing the most nourishment to dogs). Through cooking this meat at a high temperature, the modified juice can be extracted, resulting in a liquid that looks like whisky with similar aromas, but is totally free from alcohol, and offers the highest nutritional values.

Not only can you share a dram with your beloved best friend, but the perfect balance of water, protein and the vitamins and minerals from the flavour compounds can help promote a shiny, glossy coat (for your dog, you should probably stick to our regular whisky).

The first batch of our That Boutique-y Canine Company bottlings for dogs features a range of whiskies, taking in the incredible spectrum of aromas and flavours found in drams across Scotland and beyond:

Invergordoggie: The lightest of our Canine Whiskies, mainly extracted from organic chicken. Perfect for your dog while you indulge in the outstanding Invergordon 42 Year Old. Just 300 bottles are available in the first batch.

Aberfetchy: A sweet, juicy Canine Whisky, mimicking the fruits inherent in classic Aberfeldy, thanks to the whisky’s long fermentation time. For your dog’s human companion, pair with our Aberfeldy 21 Year Old. Our largest outturn, there are 600 bottles available.

Clyneleash: Extracted from meats cooked for longer to preserve the waxy character that Clynelish expressions are known for. Pour this for your pooch while you sit back with our Clynelish 24 Year Old bottling. 350 bottles have been made available.

Highland Bark: Not forgetting the smoky island malts, we worked with Dynamite Dog Dietics to keep the phenol count high even after the flavour compounds were molecularly bonded with the meats. This was our most challenging Canine Whisky to create, and we’ve proudly paired it with our Highland Park expression, with. 450 bottles available.

Beagle Rare: Take your pooch beyond Scotland without the need for a pet passport with the incredibly soft, inherently sippable Beagle Rare. A treat for dogs everywhere, and far more readily available than its American whiskey counterpart!

Himilayamazaki: The rarest of our Canine Whisky expressions, Himilayamazaki is made with mountain water from Japan to boost the mineral content for your dog. Because of the limited supply of this water, just 50 bottles are available. Humans can sip Japanese Blended Whisky #1 alongside their hounds to max out the enjoyment!

While That Boutique-y Canine Company bottlings are only suitable for dogs, we plan to roll  out whiskies for other pets in due course, including as That Boutique-y Whiskers Company, That Boutique-y Rodent Company and even That Boutique-y Equine Company for whisky-loving equestrians. Watch this space!

Each bottle of TBWC For Dogs is available in 500ml formats to complement our human TBWC bottlings. Prices start from £19.99, available from all good pet stores soon!
