A New Whisky From Speyside, and a New Speyside Whisky!

A New Whisky From Speyside, and a New Speyside Whisky!

As a Friday treat, we're letting you in on the scoop about our two new bottlings…

It’s Friday and we’ve got two new whiskies for you to look at with your head! It’s hard to get much better than that, unless you’ve got a ridiculous amount of cats wearing party hats. If you do have access to many cats wearing party hats, you should probably let us know so we can be friends.

Anyway, whisky! We’ve got a new batch of a popular Speyside whisky, as well as a Speyside whisky! Yes, you read that correctly. Yes, we were intentionally a little vague so we could make a joke. Yes, we will bloomin’ get on with it and show you the new whiskies.

So, up first is the first batch of single malt from the Speyside distillery! As you might be able to guess from the distillery’s name, the Speyside distillery is in the Speyside region. Yep, it’s Speyside in Speyside! This 15 year old whisky tastes like a dream, but rest assured, this is the real life. If it was a dream, you might not be able to tell unless you had a spinning top, though. #Meta

We’ve also bottled yet another batch of absolutely superb single malt from the Macallan distillery, also in the Speyside region! For Batch 6, we’ve bottled a 29 year old Macallan, boasting mixed berry and coffee notes from the rooftops. That last batch was amazing (as many have told us), and we reckon you’re going to love this one too.

These beauties are available from fine retailers now. Off-trade/on-trade enquiries should be directed to our UK distributor, Maverick Drinks.

Make it Grain!

Make it Grain!

Two new single grain Scotch whiskies from two closed distilleries in Clackmannanshire, both of which start with the letter ‘C’…

We’re talking, of course, about Carsebridge and Cambus!

Our first batch of Carsebridge, a rare and particularly well-regarded grain, is a show-stopping 52 years old! The label, meanwhile, features Tris Stephenson and Tom Aske (the folk behind the excellent Worship Street Whistling Shop) in their new whisky bar Black Rock. The place is all about "demystifying" whisky and removing any "older gentleman" stigma around it. Plus, they have an 18ft European oak tree trunk table, which has whisky and cocktails aging inside of it. Needless to say, there is nothing we don’t absolutely love here. What's more, there's a voucher on the back label for a super-special-secret off-menu cocktail at BlackRock too...

The Carsebridge and Cambus distilleries were built within a decade of one another, either side of 1800. They both had a pretty good run, but the former sadly closed in 1983 and was ultimately demolished in 1992, whilst the latter finally closed its doors in 1993.

The new Cambus is our third batch and is 27 years old. If you look carefully, has a robin and snowman illustration-bombing its label...

Illustration-bombing - that's a thing, right?

Two New Batches of Brilliance

Two New Batches of Brilliance

Look at this - we’ve bottled two brand new batches of excellent whisky, all with age statements (because that’s how we roll now). While some people are heading off on their summer holidays to build sand castles, admire regular castles and watch episode after episode of the TV show called Castle, we refuse to rest. Don’t even try to tell us to take a break! Get those shorts and sunglasses away from us!

First up, we have our third batch of Bunnahabhain, and we’ve bottled an absolute belter - a fantastic 33 year old piece of Islay deliciousness. The label shows all the stuff you might see if you happen to be at the distillery at the right time, including caber tossing, rally cars and vintage trucks. Oh, and maybe sharks? Maybe.

We’re also proud to present our third batch of Benrinnes, once again featuring Pete McPeat and Jack Washback from whiskyfun.com, having a very interesting conversation about partial triple distillation. If, like Jack, you’re a bit more concerned with the whisky itself than how it was once distilled, you’ll be pleased to know that this one is a marvellous 18 year old Benrinnes bottled at 52.5% ABV.

That’s your lot for today. Get back to whatever you were doing before you read this blog post, though now with the thought of yummy independently bottled whisky in the back of your mind.
