The label on our bottling of Glen Ord single malt showcases the glory of the Porteus Mill - one of which you'll find at Glen Ord even today! You might think that the motto "Build ‘em right first time, and you’ll never go out of business" is a sound theory, but it didn't quite work out like that for the company behind the Porteus Mill. They were so well built that they didn't break, and once every distillery that wanted one had one, there was nothing left for them to do - they ended up going out of business!
Nose: Lightly floral, summer grasses and orchard blossom, butter biscuits, traditional lemonade, and a malty nuttiness.
Palate: Crisp, lively and bright, with a malty nuttiness, or a nutty maltiness. There’s a soft sweetness of lemon barley sugars and just a dusting of peppery spices.
Finish: Long lasting. The sweetness turns dry with grapefruit pith lingering before sweetening again.
