Large scale facilities such as C.A.C.D. generally produce Rum for some well known brands, and fab single cask offerings like this are not so commonplace. This delicious 18 year old, MCDF marque is well travelled. Distilled 01/02/2008 and filled into American white oak in Venezuela and aged for 56 months, then shipped to Dominican Republic in cask and aged for a further 40 months. Shipped to the UK in 2016 and refilled into recycled rum casks where it resided both in England and in Scottish warehouse until we said, “yup, let’s bottle that”. Remember all our Rums are free from colourant, sweeteners, and other flavourings, and so it's a great chance to try untouched Rums from this part of the world.
With only 359 bottles anticipated for this standout bottling, you’ll want to act fast!
NOSE
A fragrant blend of sweet vanilla caramel, juicy dried dates, and sultanas, accented by dried tea leaves and a subtle touch of dried coconut.
TASTE
Lively notes of sweet toffee and raisins flood the palate, accompanied by a rich, oily mouthfeel and a dash of butterscotch. The comforting finish delivers a firm touch of astringent oak and dark bitter chocolate, concluding with a peppery kick and a hint of charred toast.
ABOUT THE LABEL
Here, the aeroplane passenger (Mr. Stubbs, I presume?) is en-route to the Corporation Alcoholes del Cariibe facility in Venezuela, peering out of the aeroplane window with (we assume) a look of awe - or is it abject terror? - at the view of the beautiful and mysterious Mount Roraima below. This famous tepui was the visual inspiration for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s ‘The Lost World’. So I guess we should not be surprised by the sight of the local fauna flying around, even if Pterodactyls have been extinct for millions of years.
