This limited-release World Whisky Blend is a masterful marriage of long-aged whiskies from four titans of the industry: Scotland, Ireland, Canada, and Japan. The youngest component in this complex blend is 21 Years Old, while the age of the oldest remains a closely guarded secret.
This expression benefits significantly from Sherry cask finishing, which brings a welcome sense of harmony to the glass. Such finishing typically involves seasoning casks with Oloroso or Pedro Ximénez sherry for six months to two years to extract deep, dark fruit notes or syrupy sweetness. For this blend, the result is a rich, fruity profile with an antique cigar box note, suggesting a lifetime of careful maturation.
Just 432 bottles are expected for this rare release.
NOSE
An alluring and expansive introduction of Planet Earth, where damp earth and fresh petrichor meet the subtle fragrance of blooming flora. This evocative opening hints at underlying good intentions, manifesting as soft, honeyed florals and a gentle, clean mineral quality.
TASTE
The initial warmth of good intentions translates into a velvety mouthfeel, which gently gives way to the exotic spices and subtle sweetness of Kyoto—think delicate sandalwood, pickled ginger, and a touch of matcha. This develops further into a refined, complex burst reminiscent of Parisian patisseries, offering layers of buttery puff pastry, crème pâtissière, and a dusting of powdered sugar.
A lingering, somewhat dry conclusion marked by abstention, where the sweetness recedes to reveal a sophisticated structure of fine oak tannins and a puff of chalky smoke. It finally resolves to a familiar, comforting echo of ‘same same’, leaving a balanced, nostalgic trail of malted biscuits and soft vanilla that encourages another sip.
