Girvan is one of Scotland's two largest grain distilleries, competing annually with Cameronbridge for production output.
Owned by William Grant & Sons, the distillery was built after DCL threatened to cut off the grain whisky supply. Construction began in April 1963 under Charles Grant Gordon and finished in just eight months. Starting with the first bulldozer on 14/04/63 and the first brick in August, the first distillation was on Christmas Day 1963—76 years after the family's first distillery, Glenfiddich, started.
This remarkable 35 Year Old Single Grain hails from 1994 and spent all of its life in a refill barrel.

NOSE
An indulgent and deeply aromatic opening where rich, concentrated notes of zesty orange syrup immediately entice the senses. This vibrant citrus profile is underpinned by the comforting, sweet fragrance of freshly cooked buttermilk pancakes, drizzled with blossom honey.
TASTE
The initial syrupy sweetness evolves on the palate, carrying a luxurious wave of melted dark chocolate that provides a velvety mouthfeel. Subtle hints of thick, golden syrup and burnt sugar continue to develop, thoroughly coating the mouth with a decadent, dessert-like richness. The finish is exceptionally long and enduring, maintaining the core sweetness while showcasing significant waxy depth. It concludes with a satisfying complexity, leaving behind lingering traces of citrus oils and roasted cocoa nibs..
ABOUT THE LABEL
Our original label featured Friar John Cor, Ryan Chetiyawardana, and a single rotovap still. The story was that to produce Girvan's daily spirit output with one rotovap, even working 24/7, you'd need to have started in 1495, the year of the first written mention of Scotch whisky.
Our reimagined label brings Friar John Cor to the front working furiously with a rotovap still. The bicycle pendant around his neck is a reference to Charlie Gordon’s mode of transport on the construction site.
