ABOUT THIS BOTTLING

Our sixth batch from the Dailuaine distillery is this 6 Year Old release at 57.9% abv - that's natural cask strength,

hence the  ‘NCS’ on the top left hand corner of the label. Distilled in June 2015 and matured in a single Sherry hogshead until we bottled it.

Ask me what my favourite whisky is, and I’ll tell you it’s usually the next one.

However, ask me to list five of my favourite distilleries, Dailuaine would be in that five.

Not often seen as a single malt bottling, except from independent bottlers like us, alongside Diageo’s Flora & Fauna series.

Dailuaine is one of the many hard-working distilleries which quietly provide fillings for blends.

Just 2% of production goes to single malts. Six large stills with condensers suggests that a light style should be produced,

but instead it produces a heavy ‘meaty’ make thanks to long fermentation, rapid distillation and

the use of stainless steel in the condensers to cut down on copper interaction.

A seldom seen style of Dailuaine with a waxy profile, the distillery occasionally creates

this style of malt for use in Diageo’s blends, in place of the more commonly used Clynelish.

NOSE

Rich, fruity, grassy, and malty! Stewed plums and toasted hot cross buns, dripping with butter. Hints of ginger, Demerara sugar, and waxy candles

TASTE

An oily mouthfeel. Rosy red apples, caramelised brown sugar, vanilla custard, and warming spices that linger long into the finish. Wonderful!

ABOUT THE LABEL

There’s a change from our traditional sulphur molecule bears labels on this release too. We’ve decided upon an older, waxy vinyl style.

While there are references to the sulphur notes achieved by using stainless steel tubes in their condensers to reduce the reflux, this label celebrates renowned architect Charles Chree Doig, and incorporates Christopher Wren’s epitaph - which is so fitting to Charles Doig.

There’s also a fabulous quote from Alfred Barnard about the beautiful location of the Dailuaine distillery.

The Badger is used on the Diageo’s Flora and Fauna label for their release. Look out for this track: Soul for Us by the Saul Fuhr Four!
