Our Blended (teaspooned) Campbeltown malts have always been popular. With only three distilleries in this once booming whisky town, you’ll quickly be able to establish what malts are in this ‘blend’.

We’ve finished this release in a First Fill ex-Bourbon barrel, and we’re expecting just 454 bottles

Campbeltown became a whisky boomtown in the 1800s. All the ingredients were there for the whisky industry, including the fertile fields of Kintyre for barley, peat bogs to supply peat for the malting process, the waters of the nearby Crosshill Loch and coal from Drumlemble mine near Machrihanish to fuel the stills. Most importantly, perhaps, was the natural deep sea harbour.

NOSE

A subtle, oily, maritime smoke leads bright to green apple, digestive biscuits, citrus zest, some black pepper, and a heather/bracken herbal note.

TASTE

Robust, and full bodied. Malty with barley and cereals, leading some fallen apples. There is a gentle oily smokiness adding complexity, and wood spices and raspberry leaves linger in the finish.

ABOUT THE LABEL

Meteor Strike - Just cuz the label is cool and Campbeltown is cool. Also the fact that Campbeltown was the whisky capital of Scotland until the 1920s.

Seventeen distilleries closed in the 1920s and, by the end of the decade, only Rieclachan was still distilling. By 1934, Springbank and Glen Scotia had restarted production – but Rieclachan had shut for good.
