This is a four year old straight rye whiskey that has been finished in a Finnish rye whisky cask from the Kyro distillery. A cask exchange program if you like.
Their high rye mashbill is a blend of 70% Midwestern rye, 20% local corn and 10% two-row malted barley. They use a wine yeast from France’s Loire Valley for fermentation.
The F.E.W. spirits distillery is set just outside Chicago, and is inspired by pre-prohibition times. It's also born in the home of temperance, in the Chicago suburb of Evanston Illinois. F.E.W. is coincidentally the initials of Frances E Willard, who lived in Evanston, her home being the longtime headquarters of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.
NOSE
Like a fruity rye loaf; packed with prunes, apricots, and raisins. There’s vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon and oak. Hints of butterscotch, citrus zest and pepper too. .
TASTE
Buttery rye, bread, raw grains, dried fruits and some honey. Hints of citrus, baking spices and that oak too. A long finish with a peppery warmth and brown sugar.

ABOUT THE LABEL
Our label inspiration comes from ‘The Untouchables’, a movie set during the era of Prohibition in the United States, in Chicago.
That’s distillery founder Paul Hletko in his baseball cap, while Michael Vachon, the founder of Maverick Drinks, and the man responsible for first bringing FEW Spirits to the UK is dressed up as Mel Gibson’s Maverick (another movie reference and shockingly bad pun) chasing the pram down steps.
There’s no baby in the pram - just popcorn…
