ABOUT THIS BOTTLING

Our first batch from the Kentucky Peerless distillery is a 3 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey, a release of just 369 bottles at 49.1% abv.

In 1889, Polish Immigrant Henry Kraver acquired E.W. Worsham Distilling, which was producing just about eight barrels of whiskey per day. It used Old Kentucky Peerless as a brand name. That brand was specifically mentioned in the deed that transferred ownership of the distillery to Kraver in 1889.

In time, production at Peerless leapt to nearly 200 barrels per week, and in 1907, Kraver incorporated as The Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. However, production ceased in 1917 after the US entered World War I and shortly after the war, in 1920 Prohibition put an end to the distillery. By 1924, its distilling equipment was dismantled and shipped to United Distillers Co. in Vancouver, British Columbia.

In 2013, Great-Grandson Corky Taylor incorporated the new Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. The following year, 80 years after his great-grandfather’s distillery was dismantled, Corky Taylor and his son secured building permits to remodel a 115-year-old industrial building in Louisville into the new Kentucky Peerless distillery. The Taylors also secured Henry Kraver’s cherished old Distilled Spirits Plant number: DSP-KY-50.
