ABOUT THIS BOTTLING

TThe distillery founded in 2010 has been built in an old flour mill that was built in 1924, in the heartland of New South Wales, by the banks of the Murray River, The heritage-listed 1920s Flour Mill was more or less derelict when Dean Druce, and his father Neil bought it for one Aussie dollar back in 1990.

Dean’s family are longtime grain farmers who previously purchased a Flour Mill two hours north of Corowa (in Junee) and transformed it into a licorice and chocolate factory. Corowa is surrounded by the Rutherglen wine region, home to many fortified wine makers and the source of many of Corowa’s barrels, and the area north of Corowa is a renowned grain growing region, Dean’s grandfather is a pioneer of organic grain farming in Australia. The barley used is sourced from either the Druce’s own farm, or local farmers.

The majority of the workforce at the distillery are under 30 years old, and the distillery has a capacity of just 370,000 litres annually.

Our Corowa is a 4 Year Old Single Malt Whisky, That’s be matured in an ex-Tawny (Australian Port) cask.

NOSE

Toasted granary bread with a rich dark marmalade note. Dark Chilli Chocolate, with some woody spices.

TASTE

The rich dark marmalade comes through on the palate, a sweetness balanced by bitter dark chocolate, sour cherries, and oak spices

ABOUT THE LABEL

There’s a lot going on in front of the distillery building on our label - a game of Aussie Rules footie, and the famous $1 dollar cheque being handed over by Dean.

Our deadly animal on our Corowa label is the Australian Funnel-Web Spider. They are one of the most medically significant groups of spiders in the world and are regarded by some to be the most deadly, both in terms of clinical cases and venom toxicity.
