Introduction (take 2)

Apologies! Oh what utter BS… and I forgot the hand-selected, finest oak casks!
We don’t do this sort of nonsense at Boutique-y Whisky.
We simply select whiskies that we find interesting, tasty, and want to drink, then bottle them.

However, we’ve long wanted (what the big boys call) a core range for the brand, and recognise that this core range should include some whisky cabinet staples: Single malts from Islay, Speyside, the Highlands, and a Blended Grain Whisky, and then, because we are Boutique-y, and our Head of Whisky is Canadian, a Canadian Corn Whisky! Whilst these are still ‘small batch’, blended in 1000L vats, they are repeatable and will become the bedrock of Boutique-y Whisky offering. And like our first continuous release, our World Whisky Blend, these will all be bottled in 700ml!

The Core Range

Like our regular Boutique-y releases, there's a whisky within our core range to captivate every palate:

From Islay, an 8 Year Old Single Malt
700ml 45.8% abv rrp £41.95

Embark on a smoky and captivating journey with our young buck, on the 8 Year Old Islay single malt. This expression encapsulates the island's untamed spirit (I know). With every sip, wisps of peat smoke envelop the senses, reminiscent of bonfires on a cool coastal evening. From a marriage of refill casks, both ex-Bourbon hogsheads and ex-Sherry octaves.

N: Citrus, smoke and oak. Earthy peat smoke with hay, roasted malt, fudge, and dried fruit.
P: Dry punchy peat in the foreground, juicy fruits, warm vanilla and lingering notes of stewed fruits.

From Speyside, a 12 Year Old SIngle Malt
700ml 45.8% abv rrp £44.95

Indulge in the refined elegance of our 12-year-old Speyside single malt, a harmonious symphony of flavours that pays homage to the lush landscapes and tranquil beauty of the Speyside region. From a marriage of all new Oloroso casks, this expression unveils a captivating bouquet of caramelised nuts, orchard fruits, flamed orange peel, and smoky oak that greet the senses with a gentle embrace.

N: Caramelised nuts and chocolate mousse, flamed orange peel, cinnamon, earthy density, punchy cassia, and smoky oak.
P: Fruity, chewy and spicy. Tangy cranberry, salty jerky, oily walnuts, an absolute belter of a Speyside whisky. Complex and quaffable.

From the Highlands, an 18 Year Old SIngle Malt
700ml 45.8% abv rrp £84.95

Elevate your senses with the remarkable complexity of our 18 Year Old Highland single malt, a masterful fusion of highland peat and sherry cask maturation that embodies the best of two worlds. From a marriage of ex-Bourbon, Oloroso, and Pedro Ximenez casks, savour the exquisite balance of smoke and sweetness that define its character.

N: Woody and outdoorsy with clove, charred pineapple, peach and nectarine. Creamy vanilla and some furniture polish, with an ashen, meaty peat throughout.
P: powerful and deep mix of sooty chimney smoke, herbaceous peat and old oak. A gentle texture with ripe fruits and cashew butter with savoury layers of parma ham and maillard/burnt sugar toasty notes.

A 30 Year Old Blended Grain
700ml 45.8% abv rrp £74.95

This 30 Year Old blended grain Scotch whisky is a testament to the art of blending and a statement to the passage of time, encapsulating the very essence of our dedication to the art of whisky-making. We also love a drop of old blended grain.
From a marriage of refill casks both ex-Bourbon hogsheads and ex-Sherry octaves.

N: Honeycomb, red grapes, immensely buttery biscuits or shortbread, waxy orange peel, polished oak and a touch of floral spring breeze.
P: Thick, textured with rich butterscotch, freshly baked cookies with still-soft chocolate chunks, hints of cedar and white pepper in the finish.

and, from Canada, an 8 Year Old Canadian Corn Whisky
700ml 45.8% abv rrp £36.95

Delve into the distinct character of our sherried 8 Year Old Canadian corn whisky. Matured in 100% Oloroso casks, this is a reminder of the Canadian landscape, a spirited embodiment of the land's rich agricultural heritage, and Moose, obviously..

N: Fruity muffins, buttery oak, opening up into sherried goodness: raisins, prunes, dates, drizzles of runny toffee and toasted nuts..
P: Big, bold, and fruity! Toffee ripple ice cream, wafer, and popcorn join toasted almonds and cooked peach, white cracks of black pepper nestle in the depths.

Label Design

We had a lot of fun choosing a label design for our first core lineup and had a few different ideas for the range. We settled on something ‘traditional’ with the deer becoming the focal point of our design.

Of course we wanted to keep it Boutique-y, and inject some fun into it too. We ended up with just the one deer, starting with a young buck, getting older, and more dignified, as the whiskies aged, finishing with the dominant stag who has been through some scapes in his life; older, wiser, and looks a little pissed with everything!

I just love the expressions on their faces. Boutique-y Whisky artist, Emily Chappell, has captured our brief so perfectly, and has injected her magic into it, as usual. The colours of the label reflect the colour palette of the Aurora Borealis, while the ‘wave pattern’ across all of the labels symbolises the way the Aurora Borealis is always moving in the sky, if you’ve been lucky enough to see it.

Wrap Up

  • Chill-Filtered? Never!

  • Caramel E150? Of course not!!!

All of these releases are in 700ml/70cl bottles, have been bottled at 45.5% abv, are non-chill filtered, and naturally coloured.

We will of course continue to search for new, interesting, and tasty whisky, and release our regular ‘themed series’ that have been very successful since starting this back in 2000. We also have a number of other nationalities in the team, and hope to expand this core range later with selected whiskies from around the world..

This core range is available from all of the finest retailers now!

Off-trade/on-trade enquiries should be directed to our UK distributor; Maverick Drinks.

Cheers!
