ABOUT THIS BOTTLING
When you’re a family-owned distiller, you can (understandably) get pretty protective of others using your distillery name. These days Laphroaig, Glenmorangie, Glenfiddich, Balvenie, and every Glenfarclas (ahem) restrict indie bottlers from using their names.
This Glenfarcla…amazing unnamed Speysider has reached the great age of FIFTY and we just had to include it in our 10th Birthday bonanza, bafflingly still holding onto an abv of 52.5%!
This refill butt has allowed the whisky held within to have a lengthy conversation with oxygen over 5 decades in cask, without becoming overly woody or tannic. Instead what we have here is a rare example of what the nerds are calling “distillate driven” examples, where the make itself is the star, not the cask… no mean feat after 50 years!
Rare, rarified, and remarkable stuff.
NOSE
Lush green fruits and polished hardwoods. Ripe banana, dried tropical fruit chunks, and apple crumble. A hint of sandalwood.
TASTE
Rich and complex. Lots of banana, custard, lemon zest, herbal teas, and golden syrup, . Hints of Camphor and more of those polish notes. Just glorious!
Not the woody whisky you’d expect at this age.

The ‘Doge’ theme of our Speyside #! label has also been reinterpreted by artist Emily Chappell and looks so much brighter, yet just as mysterious!
